Access Control for Stadiums Description
An
Access Control System to stadiums and other public venues, can be described as:
"Automatic Ticket Scanning and Access System".
The system does what the human "ticket taker" used to do:
- Scanning and reading the entry admission ticket, if it for today, for this site, this gate, etc:
This is done by using stadium barcode ticket or season smart card, which has the stadium entry permissions information for each card or ticket .
The Entry Validator reads that information, and verifies it is the right ticket for that event.
- Ticket Genuinely: An electronic ticketing system has more power to verify ticket genuinely
- One admission per ticket: The system verifies that his ticket haven't been used yet!
- If all approved, the system real se the entry turnstile, for entry of one person
- The system keeps track of each ticket, according to pre defined rules.

Public Access & Ticketing System- Main Parts:
The system may be described as 4 major parts:
1. The Access Ticket and Fan Cards:

The tickets may be of few forms, but all of them have one thing in common: they must bare some electronic information in them!
The most poplar ticket's technologies are:
- Barcode Ticket: made of paper, low cost, very useful for one time entry.
We use 2D barcode tickets as well as 1D barcode tickets.
- RFID smart cards: used for full season fans, and in special events.
- Magnetic strip: used to be poplar, but almost not exist in new systems.

2. Printing and Selling Stadium Entry Tickets

This may be done in few ways:
- Print in Advance: in this way, the tickets are printed some time before the event, and at the match day, the tickets are sold "as is" at any ticket booths or POS: at the stadium, in city box office, etc.
- Print On Time, at the POS: This is more expensive way, since it requires that each POS will be computerized, with ticket printer.
Real Time Monitoring: any of the above ways, may be supervised and monitored with computers and relevant software.
Online and Internet ticket selling is also supported, according to few consideration.
3. ETV: Entry Ticket Validators- the Ticket Scanner:

This is probably the most important item in the system.
It's main duties and features are:
- The Ticket Validator is the "front" of the system: this is what all visitors see-
but more important: this is what they use !
- A Ticket Validator may be for one type ticket reader, or ticket scanner, but the double technology Validators are much better and more useful.
- The Entry Validator is the right device for Stadium Access Control Systems, unlike a standard card reader, since:
- Ticket Validator must be capable to give fast response to the user- i.e. it must has all the information in it's won memory, and not communicate with the min database for each ticket !!
- In case of a problem in the main computer, or fault in the communication- the Validator must keep working. Simple card reader has no memory, and it must communicate all the time with the host computer.
- Turnstile control: only the Entry validator, made for this specific task, has all the elements to control the turnstile, collect feedback from it, etc.
- Display: Our Validators has clear 2 line text display, which show the status of the card, the reason way it is rejected (such as: "wrong gate" ) etc. There are also LED's lamps and a beeper... to ease the communication with the user !
- A Ticket Scanner is just the reading element. It is only one component in the Ticket Validator.
But a Ticket Scanner as is, is not cable for all other tasks needed from the "Entry Device".
- Real Time Counting, special working modes, self contained communication, field up-date firmware option, and more, are only part of the essential qualities you must have in a working, reliable and fast Stadium Access System.
- OTOT's Ticket and cards card Validators display information to the user, control the turnstile, can turn on lamp showing the visitor class: child, adult, etc.
- This device must be massive metal made unit, highly reliable for massive working, must stand vandalism, must work with or without computer communication, etc.

4. The Stadium Turnstiles at the gates
OTOT's Ticket Validator can control any electrically controlled turnstiles. Whether it is old or new, low or high, 3 or 4 wings... we can use it. In short, there are 3 main types of turnstiles:
- Low tripod turnstiles: This type has 3 arms, and since it is low, they must be supervised by a gate keeper or a steward, who makes sure no one jump over or go under the arms...
- 3/4 Turnstiles: A middle high units, from 1 meter to 1.3 meters. They give much better blocking then the tripods, while keep lower profile ten the full height models.
- Full heights turnstiles they are 230cm high, and there for prevent any attempt to "snaking in"... They looks like "full security"- massive and strong.
